| Don Moore owns and
operates Don Moore Illustrator in Killeen Texas. Don has worked as
an illustrator for 37 years, including 22 years as an illustrator
for the United States Marine Corps and the United States Army. During Don's tenure with the Marines, Don served as Graphic Arts Chief at Quantico, Virginia for three years and Graphic Arts Chief at Parris Island, South Carolina for about one year. After joining the Army in 1984, Don served as the 1st Cavalry Division illustrator at Fort Hood Texas later assigned as the VII Corps Illustrator in Stuttgart, Germany at the request of the Corps commanding general. Don was instrumental is creating the logo and club awards for the Sgt Audie Murphy Club in 1986. The crest was also designed by Don Moore that depicts the symbols of the majestic American Bald Eagle superimposed over the olive branch-wreath, saber, and lighting bolt. In front of the eagle are the U.S. Army staff sergeant stripes. The eagle firmly clutches in both claws a powder-blue banner, the color of the infantry. On the banner are displayed words Loyalty, Caring, Discipline, and Professionalism. Don later returned to the 1st Cavalry Division at Ft Hood to serve as the Division's illustrator until his retirement in 1989. Don has illustrated more than 50 books, including "Cavalier in Buckskin" by Robert Utley, numerous books on George Armstrong Custer and the "Battle of the Little Big Horn" by John M Carroll,; "Galveston and the Gulf,Colorado and Sante Fe Railroad" by Carroll for the Moody Foundation, and "Life Line of the Confederacy" by Dr. Steven Wise. Don's work has appeared in several magazines, including "Leatherneck" and "Armchair General". During his career as an illustrator, Don has designed 48 posters for the McDonnell Douglas Helicopter Systems and Boeing Aircraft, more than 200 coins for various military units and shoulder patches and unit insignia for the Institute of Heraldry. Don has performed work for former Presidents Nixon and Reagan, the Moody Foundation, McDonnell Douglas, the Little Big Horn Association, the National Park Service and the Central Texas Fallen Heroes Memorial and their supporting internet website. Don's works hang in the museums across the country, including the Marine Corps Museum at Parris Island, the 1st Cavalry Division Museum at Ft Hood Texas, the Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor Hawaii, the Cody Museum in Cody Wyoming and the Native American Museum in New York.
